We haven’t decided what the first Mumbai Social is.
Good.
Because booking a café and putting twelve strangers around a table would have been very easy.
We would rather find something worth leaving home for.
Something distinctly Mumbai.
Something that works because it happened here.
Not something we could copy into six cities and change the location pin.
So we’re looking.
We are looking for two kinds of Mumbai people.
THE ONES WHO WANT TO COME.
You live here.
Maybe you recently moved here.
Maybe you have been here fifteen years and somehow still spend every weekend between the same six places.
Tell us what would actually make you say:
“Okay. I’m coming.”
AND THE ONES WHO KNOW SOMETHING WE DON’T.
Maybe you:
- Own a beautiful space.
- Run a kitchen.
- Know a neighbourhood unusually well.
- Host dinners.
- Make ceramics.
- Run a gallery.
- Teach something.
- Make music.
- Work with food.
- Lead walks.
- Know how to get onto a boat.
- Have access to somewhere unusual.
- Or simply have a brilliant three hour idea.
Bring us the ingredient.
We’ll help build the Social around it.
What could Mumbai Socials become?
Not commitments.
Possibilities.
- A Sunday breakfast inside somebody’s old Bandra home.
- A photo walk where nobody is allowed to photograph the obvious things.
- Dinner from one regional kitchen with the person who grew up eating it.
- A very small live performance somewhere music isn’t normally played.
- A sea morning.
- A neighbourhood story.
- Making something with somebody who is very good at making it.
- A long table where food is the activity.
Something we have absolutely not thought of yet.
That last one interests us most.
We are not looking for “vendors.”
This matters.
If you collaborate on a Social, we want your idea to remain visible inside it.
